BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Background
The Kombo East Youth and Children Development Alliance (KEYCDA) is a Gambian non-governmental organization established in 2005 by the youth of Kombo East District. Recognizing the challenges faced by young people, such as unemployment, social discrimination, drug abuse, and health hazards like HIV/AIDS, KEYCDA aims to promote sustainable socio-economic development for youth and children in the region.
Over the years, KEYCDA has implemented various programs focusing on entrepreneurship, child rights, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, sports development, youth empowerment, microfinance, and education. The organization operates through community associations and platforms, including the Assembly for the Welfare of Girls and Young Women, to address specific issues affecting young people.
KEYCDA collaborates with partners such as the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter to enhance youth and community empowerment. These partnerships have led to initiatives aimed at providing entrepreneurship education, skill development, and addressing community-related issues to improve the overall well-being of the local population.
Through its dedicated efforts, KEYCDA continues to be a pivotal force in fostering positive change and development among the youth and children of Kombo East and beyond.
